RSC Seniors opened the season with a fantastic 4–0 win against Monash City Villarreal on Saturday. After a tough first 15 minutes where keeper Seb King kept the clean sheet intact with some strong saves, the Dales worked their way into the game, heading into half time 2–0 up thanks to two goals from Marc Jencik. Early in the second half, Marc completed his hat-trick with a brilliant team goal, before Martin Schroeder capped off a great all round team performance with a stunning long-range strike.
The Reserves were unlucky, going down 1–0 after a defensive lapse allowed Monash in. Despite the result, it was great to see so many new young faces – no doubt they’ll grow stronger as the season progresses.
